James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies

At the James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies, we expect our students to discover the unexpected, create knowledge, and leave Emory prepared for success in their chosen careers. We cannot do it alone. Your leadership-level support strengthens our ability to maximize the graduate experience for our students and to lay a foundation for success beyond Emory.

Leadership-level annual gifts help us establish and implement programs focused on professional development.

--To help students learn how to secure funding for research and postdoctoral projects, we offer the Grant Writing Program, which addresses every stage of grant proposal writing from developing fundable projects to tailoring proposals for specific funders.

--For students considering nonacademic careers, we provide premium access to The Versatile PhD, a thriving web-based community where students can engage in forum discussions, network with PhDs outside the academy, access examples of successful resumes and cover letters, and participate in live online panel discussions with successful doctorate recipients working in professional fields.

--To align student skills and capabilities with job search strategies, we have teamed up with Potential Matters—a career coaching group—to offer practical and proven tools to help graduate students.

At the Laney Graduate School, we expect our students to discover the unexpected, create knowledge, and graduate from Emory as leaders in their fields. Your leadership-level annual support is more important than ever. These gifts strengthen our commitment to provide students with the foundation they need to succeed.

Thank you for your dedication to graduate education and your commitment to the success of tomorrow’s intellectual leaders. Please consider becoming part of the Wise Heart Society with a leadership-level annual gift. As our partner, you are an integral part of the life and legacy of this graduate school, and we look forward to charting new paths with you.
